The School of Materialist Research (SMR) is an informal graduate and post-doc level program that offers seminars and workshops that address the materialisms running through contemporary science, philosophy, art, mathematics, design, architecture, and politics.
The CPT and the Industrial Design Program at La Universidad de Bogotá Jorge Tadeo Lozano (UTADEO) have started an exchange program to research local material cultures in Colombia as basis for creating post-conflict autonomous design methods. Students spend the year working between Arizona and Colombia. This program is funded by the 100,000 Strong in the Americas Innovation Fund.
A nine-week study-abroad program to the Netherlands that focuses on the social, political, and ecological aspects of design research. Students spend the summer touring studios, working with Dutch designers, and designing their own critical interventions into the urban fabric of Amsterdam.
The CPT is working with the ASU Art School, Openspace Collective, Thammasat University, and the Nang Lerng community in Bangkok to design a yearly intensive studio course each fall.
The LxD is a teaching and research initiative that draws on the expertise of international design researchers to pilot summer schools and research projects.
